I thought it started as an exposed power coil , which was useless, and then an engineer could turn it into a shielded power coil , which is a room slot with an extra buff (free power , or bonus power if it’s a power plant). It’s like any other wrecked room, but instead of clearing junk, the engineer is shielding the power coil .

You do have to excavate before using, but instead of the option TO EXCAVATE being clear alien debris or whatever, it’ll say exposed power coil . The third option is clear alien machinery, don’t remember offhand exactly what that does.

Other buildings build on power coils COST NO POWER . so you’ll get more power building a PSI lab or shadow chamber on a power coil . unsure if the new buildings cost more than 7 power but yeah.
